SET Exam Syllabus and Pattern

The Symbiosis Entrance Test is one of the most important entrance exams for students all over the world who are aspiring to get admission into the various graduate programs that Symbiosis International University offers.

SET Exam Syllabus

Understanding the syllabus is extremely useful when it comes to giving the SET Exam. Each section has several topics that need to be covered.  The syllabus is summarised below:

LAW (SLAT)

Logical and Analytical Reasoning

Legal Reasoning

  • Candidates must be able to extract facts from cases, and support reasoning based on different policies, evidence, and rules
  • Candidates should be able to use basic legal jargon in legal practice
  • Candidates should be able to pin-point arguments in cases, have awareness about policy and evidence bases reasoning, and reasoning about the legal sufficiency of the evidence.

Reading Comprehension

Students need to be able to analyse paragraphs and comprehension grammar in the English language. This includes:

  • Fill in the blanks
  • Analogy
  • Grammar- prepositions, contractions, articles,etc
  • Vocabulary

DESIGN (SEED)

Design Aptitude

  • Visualisation– understanding 2D and 3D shapes, as well as their manipulation and spatial relationships using pictorial and geometric representations
  • Observational, perceptual and reasoning abilities– the ability to analyse information beyond the obvious details, make inferences, comparisons,and connections, form opinions, and conclude.
  • Creative and problem-solving abilities– ability to identify a problem and brainstorm solutions
  • Application of Basic knowledge of Science and Mathematics- Applying the principles of math and science taught in school to everyday life
  • Art, Craft, Culture, Design,and Environment- Awareness of all components nationally and globally, including trends, people, tools, techniques, materials,etc.

SET Exam Pattern

The SET pattern has been consistent over the years, and it is important to have an understanding of the pattern before the exam is attempted. The SET exam is online and is 150 minutes long. The question style is objective, containing multiple-choice questions. It takes place for the following subjects:

  • Engineering and Health Sciences

The General, Design,and Law exams are a total of 150 marks, while the Engineering and Health Sciences Exam is a total of 200 marks.
